Things heated up in court during a hearing Wednesday afternoon for Nikolas Cruz, the teen accused of killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Judge Elizabeth Scherer blasted an attorney for the Sun-Sentinel, Dana McElroy, for advising the newspaper to use a cut-and-paste tactic to reveal redacted information in Cruz's education records.

The judge had ordered the information withheld.

Nikolas Cruz faces the death penalty if convicted of the mass shooting on Valentine's Day.

Students returned to classes Wednesday with a number of new security measures in place.

Just last week, prosecutors released 12 hours worth of video of Cruz's interrogation, during which he said voices in his head told him to "burn, kill, destroy."
