New procedure to help against acid reflux

Do you sometimes eat something and regret it shortly after? Well, for suffers of acid reflux there may be a new procedure to help ease the discomfort.

Dr. Andrew Zwick, a Gastroenterologist with Delray Medical Center explained a new procedure for heartburn patients.

Delray Medical is now inserting a device into the patient that monitors and stops the flow of acid into the patients esophagus.

The transoral incisionless fundoplication is a minimally invasive treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) that is performed in the outpatient setting.

The TIF procedure is performed from inside the patient’s stomach without incisions. This procedure delivers patient outcomes similar to those provided by conventional ARS procedures, but is less invasive, has fewer adverse effects and does not limit future treatment options.
