More sick days donated to teacher recovering from heart attack

We first introduced you to Palm Beach Gardens teacher Robert Goodman in August after his co-workers donated enough sick days to him to cover an entire semester while he was battling cancer.

Now, they’ve done it again.

Goodman planned to return to work in January after he was declared cancer-free, but in December he had a massive heart attack and found himself unable to go back.

“Literally I was minutes away from not being here anymore. I said goodbye to my wife,” said Goodman.

In need of more sick days Goodman took to social media and asked for help.

"It's not easy to put yourself out there like that in front of the entire world really and people that you know, but it's like, life over pride. I had to do what I had to do."

Goodman said teachers, custodians, and staff from throughout the school district came through again donating enough sick time to last him through the end of the school year.

"I wasn't left out in the cold one more time. They helped me. They didn't question me. They just did it,” said Goodman.

Goodman said he's going to try to get back in the classroom in March.
