Martin County restricts drinking areas at the beach

Martin County changes rules to make sure any drinking happens on the sand.

County commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to ban alcohol consumption at county beach parks west of the Dune line, according to the TC Palm.

This means that you must physically be on the beach and in the sand to consume an alcoholic beverage.

Just last fall, county commissioners banned drinking in pavilions, play areas and parking lots so beach goers started drinking on the sidewalks.

This latest adjustment is expected to go into effect immediately.
