Officers of the Miami Police Department say a man with a deformed skull is charged with arson and attempted murder after setting a mattress on fire.

The incident happened just after 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to officers, who identified the suspect as 31-year-old Carlos Rodriguez.

In the arrest report, officers say they responded along with firefighters to 266 NW 61st Avenue to Rodriguez’s home after someone called 911 and reported a mattress set on fire.

The report also says that Rodriguez’s home is a duplex, owned by his mother Anicia. Officers say there were two tenants that lived in the duplex connected to Rodriguez’s unit.

The fire started in Rodriguez’s room. Investigators said his mattress and box spring appear to have caught on fire by igniting fuel.

Officer say the fire was a threat to the lives of the two victims in the connected duplex.

Rodriguez has made headlines before. In February 2012, the Daily Mail posted a story about Rodriguez losing large portion of his brain and skull because of a car crash into a telephone pole.

Rodriguez warned in the video not to take drugs and drink alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
