Man sought Florida teen for violent sex acts: Sheriff
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) —
A man from West Palm Beach is accused of seeking a Florida teenager for violent sex acts, the Walton County Sheriff's Office said.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrested 22-year-old Mark Anthony Weig of West Palm Beach on Jan. 16 on a warrant out of Walton County.
The Walton County Sheriff's Office said Weig reached out to a 14-year-old girl in an online chat forum. The 14-year-old turned out to be an undercover investigator.
Authorities said Weig asked the "teen" to send sexual pictures of herself to him. He also expressed a desire for sex acts and "described violent sexual behavior" which included the use of a firearm and knife, the sheriff's office said. Authorities said Weig wanted to travel to the Panhandle to have sex with the girl.
The sheriff's office said detectives moved quickly to get a warrant for Weig's arrest based on the violent nature of his statements.
According to the Walton County Sheriff's Office, deputies from Palm Beach County not only arrested Weig but collected evidence for the investigation.
Authorities extradited Weig to Walton County last week. He faces two counts of transmitting harmful material to minors, using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, and using a computer to solicit a child.
