A father and daughter are dead after a car hit and killed them in a crosswalk in Davie on Halloween night.

The fatal crash happened near 6800 Griffin Road around 7:30 p.m.

Police identified the father as 46-year-old Carlos Alvarado Amaya. Police say his 5-year-old daughter was killed, and his 2 -year-old daughter was hurt. She was taken to to Memorial Regional Hospital as a precaution.

According to Davie police, 30-year-old Jocelin Butterfield drove east on Griffin Road in the inside lane and approached the crosswalk. She then hit Amaya and his two daughters traveling at least 45 miles mph, police say.

The report said Butterfield saw Amaya and the children and tried to stop but struck all of them. Amaya and the 5-year old were pronounced dead on scene, and the 2-year-old has a cut on her head.

Butterfield stayed on scene and gave a statement to investigators. Police say alcohol and excessive speed do not appear to be factors in the crash. It is unknown if the driver will face charges.
