Man dies in Lake Worth after going around railroad gates

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident that happened early Saturday morning in Lake Worth.

Deputies say 24-year-old Sean Deruise Jr. died after he improperly drove around the train gates at railroad tracks on Washington Avenue and South Dixie Highway. The gates were in the down position and the lights were flashing.

According to deputies, the train struck Deruise's 2003 Infinity on the passenger side and landed next to the train. Deruise died from his injuries.

Deputies say that the illegal and improper actions caused the accident.
