Man charged with impersonating a police officer

    A man from Texas is accused of impersonating a police officer in Miami.

    Miami-Dade Police arrested 27-year-old Franklin Dixon-Lozano last Thursday.

    According to police, a driver on the Florida Turnpike said he noticed a black Toyota 4Runner with red flashing lights come up behind him. The driver thought he was being pulled over. Police said as the driver slowed down, the 4Runner sped past him and drove away. The driver flagged down a passing Miami-Dade Police patrol car. Officers stopped the suspicious 4Runner on SR 836. The driver of the suspicious car had a loaded firearm holstered in his waistband. Police also found a red flashing strobe light in front with an activation switch in the glove department.

    Police arrested the driver of the 4Runner, identified as 27-year-old Franklin James Dixon-Lozano of Irving, Texas. He faces charges of falsely impersonating an officer, and possession of a weapon while committing an offense.
