A store clerk continued to fight after he was viciously attacked at a Fort Pierce gas station and convenience store.

Fort Pierce Police Department say the attack happened at approximately 10:20 Thursday morning at 4101 Okeechobee Road in Fort Pierce at a Citgo gas station.

The clerk called 911 and told dispatchers he had been attacked by a man with an electric weapon. The clerk reported cash stolen from the register after the attack.

The suspect fled after the attack, but officers were assisted by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office's helicopter and police dogs.

Officers spotted 21-year-old Middleton Henderson, of Fort Pierce, hiding in an abandoned home. Upon arrest, Henderson told the officers his plans for the robbery were disrupted because the store clerk fought back.

Henderson was charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery. He has been booked into the St. Lucie County Jail.
