A child molestation case in California leads investigators all the way here to Palm Beach County.

Dwight Castaldi, 42, of Palm Beach Gardens, is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl from California and officers believe there may be more victims.

“Being so close and him being so friendly it’s kind of scary,” neighbor Bill Hopkins said.

Hopkins and Crystal Fletcher are parents who are now learning about the man who lived next door.

“You never know your neighbors," Fletcher said. "You never know anybody. Because they can be completely nice and one person to your face and behind closed doors they are a completely different person."

Fletcher said Castaldi went by the name Nicholas and always greeted her and her kids with a warm smile.

“He was always friendly and he was always outside and our daughter was outside sometimes,” she said.

However, Fletcher knew something was off when detectives showed up at Castaldi’s residence a few weeks ago.

“At first I didnt know what was going on, but then we saw them bring out his computer, so we got a little feeling of misconduct," she said. "I had heard through the grapevine that it possibly could’ve been involving a child."

That’s exactly what investigators in Huntington Beach California suspect.

Authorities extradited Castaldi to California, where he's being held at the Orange County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

He faces charges including luring a child with intent to commit a crime and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14.

“We have kids surrounding us and to have somebody next door like that is just out of control,” Hopkins said.

The couple said what’s even more concerning is there are several public schools located within a three-mile radius. CBS12 checked and found at least four schools nearby.

“That’s completely unacceptable for a grown man to be doing some like that,” Fletcher said.

Castaldi is scheduled to be arraigned on May 4th.

Investigators in Huntington Beach and Palm Beach County believe there may be more victims in the case. If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS (8477). You will remain anonymous.
