JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) — Subcultre Coffee says all of its locations are now closed as of Friday afternoon.
The company says it was forced to layoff 650 employees in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a Facebook Post from Rodney Mayo, which was shared by the coffee shop's page, the company is assuring that the 1,800 people affected by the layoffs will receive at least one meal a day.
As an extension to that promise, the company says, it will also re-open Howleys and partner with other businesses to set up a food distribution center to provide free meals to local charities, any laid off hospitality workers and the Subculture family.
Starting this weekend, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. the coffee shop says it is setting up a line for no-contact meals to be handed out to people. They also say the managed to find toilet paper and will include one roll per car.
"Thank you for every one of our loyal customers that has been over tipping this past week! For those of you who are still receiving a paycheck think about your favorite hospitality worker. They need your help even if its just some emotional support and words of gratitude," Mayo says in the post.
