Lake Worth teen killed in crash in Broward County
WILTON MANORS, Fla. (CBS12) —
An 18-year-old man from Lake Worth was killed Sunday morning near the intersection of Wilton Drive and Northeast 7th Avenue, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Sebastian Wilfredo Serrano was driving south on Wilton Drive when he lost control of his 2004 Acura TSX, according to the sheriff's office. Detectives believe he had been driving erratically when he crashed.
Witnesses reported he was speeding as his car swerved between the north and southbound lanes of traffic, the sheriff's office said. After Serrano lost control, he swerved to the right and hit the large concrete retaining wall.
Serrano and his passenger were not wearing seat belts, authorities said.
They were both transported to the Broward Health Medical Center's trauma unit, where Serrano died shortly after arriving, according to the sheriff's office. Serrano's passenger is still in the hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing.
