The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said on Saturday, just shortly after 8 a.m., a concerned caller told dispatch they drove past what they believed was a mannequin on fire in an open field behind a residential area on Will Scarlett Avenue in Ruskin.
RUSKIN, Fla. (CBS12) — After a body was found in a burning field in Florida, deputies are left to investigate.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said on Saturday, just shortly after 8 a.m., a concerned caller told dispatch they drove past what they believed was a mannequin on fire in an open field behind a residential area on Will Scarlett Avenue in Ruskin.
Fire Rescue responded to the scene to extinguish the flames and discovered that the mannequin was actually a dead body.

The sheriff's office said the victim was found with upper body trauma, and due to the severity of the burns, it cannot be identified.
“This is a jarring scene,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “At this time, our deputies are doing everything they can to determine what happened to this person. We do believe this is an isolated incident, and we will continue to work tirelessly until we determine how this horrific crime occurred.”
