Influenza B killed 12-year-old Dylan Winnik from West Palm Beach, according to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner.

Relatives told CBS12 on Friday that authorities confirmed to them Dylan Winnik died from the flu.

Sergio Winnik said that his son, Dylan Winnik, went to school, and a birthday party on January 19, and came home with a fever.

Dylan's father told CBS 12 he had to attend an event at the South Florida Fair, and asked Dylan if he wanted to go but Dylan declined.

After two hours passed, Sergio asked his neighbor to check on Dylan, and the neighbor found him in the bathroom. When deputies arrived Dylan had already died.

Dylan did not receive the flu shot, according to his father.

A GoFundMe account has raised more than $21, 000 to help pay for Dylan’s funeral expenses.

The funeral for Dylan is Saturday at Trinity Church International in Lake Worth.
