Hunt for gas continues after Irma
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Cbs12) —
The hunt for gas in Florida continues as cities begin to clean up the mess following Hurricane Irma; but relief could soon be on the way.
All three of Florida’s major fuel ports are open and operational; Port Tampa, Port Everglades and Port Canaveral.
Port of Panama City is also open and operational.
According to Governor Rick Scott, each Port is prioritizing fuel shipments and Florida Highway Patrol is escorting fuel resupply trucks to gas stations.
The Jones Act, Florida’s gas tax, and all weight and driver restrictions continue to be waived to expedite fuel delivery.
When looking for fuel locally, the GasBuddy app is a great tool to find it.
The app has a tracker in which users can type in a specific location and it brings up a map with color coded markers that show stations that have gas, have limited gas options and have no power.
As of Wednesday morning, the Wawa on Belvedere Road had gas, Marathon on North Military Trail, and Sunoco on N. Jog Road just to name a few.
