How to apply for Food for Florida

The Department of Children & Families wants people to apply online before heading out to a disaster assistance center for benefits under Food for Florida.

To be eligible, people must not be receiving benefits through the regular Food Assistance Program.

People also must have been living or working in the disaster area at the time of the disaster. Those counties include Baker, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Clay, Collier, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lafayette, Lee, Levy, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Suwanee, and Volusia.

And recipients must also have suffered a disaster-related loss.
