HIV vaccine could be coming soon
UNITED STATES (CBS12) —
A new trial might have the answers for a cure to put an end to HIV and the AIDS virus, KOMO reports.
The HIV Vaccine Trials Network, a group working on multiples studies, says they have new trial that gives them hope that HIV and AIDS can be ended.
Since there are many strains of HIV, finding a single approach can be tricky. But scientists are remaining hopeful that they can find an effective vaccine, KOMO reports.
"It's a little bit like a very specialized key for a really unique lock. The goal is it will turn the lock for a specialized immune response that has the ability to block HIV infection," Dr Kristen Cohen with Fred Hutch says.
A vaccine able to put an end to the diseases is still at least 10 years away, KOMO adds.
