WEST PALM BEACH (CBS12) — There was a large police presence in West Palm Beach following a shooting off Australian Avenue.
Just after 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the Palm Grove Apartments where they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to St. Mary's with non-life threatening injuries.
As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, West Palm Beach police officers were present on 43rd Street and Australian Avenue, and set up a perimeter.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office also has a chopper in the air, circling the area.
Witnesses tell CBS12 it looks as though officers are searching for someone.
Roosevelt Elementary School, Bak Middle School of the Arts and High Ridge Family Center were under a lockdown following the shooting, but it was lifted at 2:40 p.m.
