GAINESVILLE, Fla. (CBS12) — Gov. Ron DeSantis announced $89 million in funding for workforce education initiatives, during a Wednesday morning news conference at Santa Fe College in Gainesville.
Those initiatives include a first-of-its-kind Career and Technical Education (CTE) charter schools initiative.
The charter schools will get $10 million, and let students to earn credentials and college credit while in high school. They will be located at Miami-Dade College, St. Pete College, Santa Fe College, Tallahassee Community College and Northwest Florida State College.
Money awarded will also go towards high school CTE dual enrollment programs, apprenticeships, and cybersecurity and IT training.
DeSantis also answered questions about the Stop WOKE Act, monoclonal antibody treatments and inflation.
