PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A man with three active felony warrants was arrested after police say he attempted to flee from a school zone traffic stop in Port St. Lucie.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said officers stopped 29-year-old Gary Grimsley, of Fort Pierce, on Monday for traveling 40 mph in a 20 mph school zone in front of Village Green Elementary.
Police say Grimsley knew he had active felony warrants and told police he did not have his ID and instead provided a fake name.
While officers attempted to confirm his identity on their vehicle laptop, Grimsley left his car and told officers, "Man, I’m going to be honest, I gotta go!"
