Friends and family mourn the loss of woman who died while on a first date
COOPER CITY, Fla. (CBS12) —
A family is searching for answers after a south Florida woman went on a first date with a mystery man on a motorcycle and never came home.
Wednesday night, friends of 33-year-old Jennifer St. Claire gathered at Coopers Hawk Winery where she worked as a server to remember her life.
St. Claire fell off the back of a motorcycle on I-95, and several cars ran her over, which lead to her passing early Friday morning.
“You can’t say I love you too or I love you, or I miss you or I am sorry you can’t say any of that she is gone so that is the hard,” said one of St. Claire’s best friends, Kelly Lovegrove.
St. Claire’s friends tell CBS12 she left her Fort Lauderdale home Thursday evening with a man she met online.
He drove her on the back of his motorcycle to a Delray Beach bar. Then on their way back, somehow, she ended up on the highway.
“Just shocked, confused, weird, it’s very surreal,” said Lovegrove. She describes St. Claire as an energetic dog lover able to make everyone smile. “Just hilarious, everything she did was funny.”
So far, Lovegrove nor St. Claire’s family have been able to find out who she met online or where they went in Delray Beach.
Authorities say the mystery man didn’t stop when she came off the motorcycle, and he has not come forward.
