OSHA cited five contractors for multiple violations in connection to the pedestrian bridge collapse at Florida International University in Miami.

The bridge came crashing down on March 15, killing six people.

In a new report from the Department of Labor, OSHA proposed $86,658 in penalties for the five companies who received a total of seven violations.

They are:

  • Figg Bridge Engineers, Inc.
  • Network Engineering Services, Inc.
  • Structural Technologies, LLC.
  • Munilla Construction Management, LLC.
  • The Structural Group of South Florida, Inc.

According to OSHA, the companies "failed to protect workers when indications of a potential bridge collapse were evident."

A preliminary investigation by the NTSB focused on a set of cracked found on the bridge several weeks before it collapsed. FIU leaders said the university learned about the cracks that morning.

The companies have 15 business days to respond to the findings. CBS12 reached out to the companies named by OSHA for a statement. The responses will be added to this story once they come in.

Figg told CBS12 it is not commenting on the findings.
