INDIANTOWN, Fla. (CBS12) — Firefighters were able to contain a 36.5-acre wildfire that ignited near a school Thursday afternoon, the Florida Forest Service said.
The fire was being fueled by pine trees and palmetto brush, according to officials, but firefighters were able to hold the fire at the canal ditch behind the Indianwood Golf and Country Club.
Hope Rural School was evacuated because it was in the path of the fire, the Martin County Fire Department said. However, since firefighters were able to contain the fire, no buildings were damaged and no injuries were reported.
