Fire engulfs clubhouse at condominium complex, leaving little behind

(Palm Beach County Fire Rescue)

Residents of Deauville Village condominiums looked on in horror Friday evening as the complex's clubhouse went up in flames.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) responded to the complex near W Atlantic Ave. and Jog Rd. around 6:30 p.m. and witnessed heavy fire shooting through the roof and right side of the building. When that side was deemed a total loss, firefighters focused their efforts on trying to salvage the rest of the structure.

Thankfully, no one was inside when crews arrived.

Not much was left of the clubhouse once the flames were put out. The inside was entirely gutted, and just the walls remained on the left side.

PBCFR spokesman Albert Borroto said were it not for the swift action taken by firefighters, the fire could have spread to nearby condos.

Three fire investigators are at the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire which is still unknown.

One resident told CBS12 News that their holiday party was going to take place at the clubhouse in the near future -- something that will no longer be possible.
