FHP: Florida mom found with block of cocaine, young kids in car
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) —
The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a mother after finding drugs, including a block of cocaine and more than a dozen bags of marijuana, in her car with her two children.
A trooper pulled over a car for a window tint violation on the Turnpike Monday afternoon near Port St. Lucie. The trooper noticed a 4-year-old and 11-month-old in the car, as well as the smell of raw marijuana.
The driver, 31-year-old Sharymar Judith Santana, of Greenacres, said her husband also drove the car and allowed the trooper to search it. A second trooper pulled up and removed the kids from the car before the search began. The woman told the troopers she packed her car along with a friend named "Smoke."
The troopers opened the trunk and found a Walmart bag with a block of cocaine in it, according to the report. They also found a safe which they later opened and found marijuana, a bag of cocaine and a bag of illegal mushrooms. Authorities also retrieved a suitcase carrying 13 bags of marijuana and two big bags of a green powder that later tested positive for THC hash. Troopers found drug paraphernalia in the middle console, according to the arrest report.
Santana told troopers she didn't know anything about the items found in the car. Troopers released the children to their grandmother, the FHP said.
She is now facing multiple felony charges, including possession of cocaine and marijuana, cocaine trafficking and possession of a hallucinogen.
