A father and son are both behind bars following a burglary investigation in Port St. Lucie.

Police initially arrested 26-year-old Dennis Bernard Hansen on four counts of auto burglary and resisting an officer with violence.

Investigators believe he broke into a car along NE Emerson Street on Monday morning. The victim provided surveillance video of the crime to police.

Police received reports of three additional car burglaries that morning.

As police went to question Hansen about the burglaries, his father intervened. Police say the father started to yell at detectives.

Police said the younger Hansen then ran into his house, away from police.

Port St. Lucie Police said the elder Hansen tried to keep police from arresting his son by pushing a detective. Police took him into custody as well.

Dennis Carl Hansen, 62, is facing charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence during a burglary investigation.
