Family lucky to be alive after overnight fire

A local family is thankful to be alive after fast-moving flames ripped through their mobile home.

It happened overnight Monday at the Lake Worth Village off of Lake Worth Road in Greenacres, Palm Beach County.

The family of seven, which includes two young children, say they woke up the loud popping noises.

When they looked out the window they found their screened-in porch completely engulfed in flames.

Thankfully, they were able to escape through a side door before the flame spread to the inside of their home.

While there's obvious damage to the exterior, the family says the inside is also charred and has serious smoke damage.

Fire inspectors were out early Monday morning sifting through the mess to try to figure out what caused this fire.

The family was forced to gather up what's left of their belongings.

The American Red Cross is now working with this displaced family.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
