We saw history made at Palm Beach Animal Care and Control.

The organization had empty kennels on Tuesday for the first time ever.

"This is just one of three kennel buildings at the shelter, so the shelter itself is not completely empty but just the fact we can say we have one of our kennels empty is amazing," said Elizabeth Harfmann, the communications liaison for the shelter.

Animal Care and Control shared video on Facebook of the staff celebrating, and practicing social distancing, at Kennel Two.

People are looking for furry companions during the "stay-safer-at-home" period due to coronavirus.

"I've been home a lot and really want the company,I'm a single woman so it'll be nice to have someone alive in the house," said Marcie Ebenstein, who came in to foster a cat.

"Everybody is really stuffed up so we've had adopters coming in, we've had people that have never fostered a pet before all of a sudden excited to help out the community," said Harfmann.

The organization thanked staff members, volunteers, and the community for making it happen.

As of Thursday, teh shelter still has 36 dogs, two cats, two horses, and lots of chickens up for adoption. If you are interested in adopting. you can see the animals available on Animal Control's website.
