WEST PALM BEACH (CBS12) — Scary situation at Palm Beach International as a Spirit plane issued an emergency call before landing.

The plane's crew detected a burning smell in the cockpit.

The plane landed safely just before 5:30 p.m. after traveling south from Newark, New Jersey.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the tarmac.
