PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) — A string of boat burglaries came to an end after deputies arrested a pair for allegedly stealing items from a boat in a private boatyard.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies arrested Ana-Maria Ferreira, 37, and Peter Umholtz, 35, for allegedly stealing over $3,000 in goods.
According to the affidavit, residents living near Palm Beach Gardens had been targeted by a sting of burglaries that occurred at the boatyard between Jan. 26 through 31.
Surveillance captured an unknown male and female entering a boat, according to the arrest report. The residents confronted the pair, but the duo left. One of the residents followed the pair and soon after got into an accident with them.
In the arrest report, Ferreira and Umholtz stole a total of $3,030 worth of items including a Sony Playstation, an Apple iPad, a Fein tool set, a Fluke multi meter electrical tester.
Deputies charged Ferreira with two counts of burglary, grand theft and contempt of court. Ferreira is being held on $10,000 bond. Deputies charged Umholtz with two counts of burglary and grand theft. Umholtz is being held on $9,000 bond.
