BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputy who police say shot a woman then killed himself filed a lawsuit last month.
Michael DeMarco filed the suit in small claims court against Yuly Solano.
Court records show the address listed in the lawsuit as the same address where the shooting took place in Boynton Beach.
DeMarco was suing over furniture worth more than $2,400.
Court records show a receipt for the leaner mirror, bought for $672.98 from El Dorado Furniture on August 13. A second receipt shows an order for a mattress from City Mattress for $1732.44. Demarco paid with a check for both items.
Demarco had been with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office since Sept. 1995. He worked as a detective in the civil process division, according to a spokesperson.
Boynton Beach Police have not released the name of the woman shot by DeMarco. She remains hospitalized in critical condition at Delray Beach Medical Center.
