The state of Florida is not seeking the death penalty for Euri Jenkins, the man accused of killing his wife, according to the 15th Judicial Circuit for Palm Beach County.

Jenkins, 31, was arrested for the June murder of Makeva Jenkins earlier this month and is facing charges of premeditated first-degree murder.

He initially told investigators a gunman stormed into their home and shot Makeva, just a few feet away from their children. The family made emotional pleas for clues to help solve the case. In July, investigators used a search warrant to seize items from the home, such as a cable bill and cell phones.

Jenkins is one of two suspects being held for Makeva's murder. Joevan Joseph, 20, was arrested in August and has been in jail ever since. He's also charged with premeditated first-degree murder.
