Man shot and killed in Palm Beach Gardens

Detectives in Palm Beach Gardens are investigating a deadly shooting of a man on Sunset drive. The neighborhood is located just West of I95 near Northlake Blvd.

Palm Beach Gardens Police said officers responded to the area around 2 a.m. After receiving reports of multiple gun shots fired.

Officers blocked off a stretch of Sunset Drive while investigators collected evidence on scene.

The Medical Examiner arrived around 6 a.m.

Palm Beach Gardens Police say the victim is a man, but the agency is staying tight lipped about the shooter.

According to Major Ed Guillen, police do not believe this to be a random shooting, and that the victim was a specific target.

Meanwhile a man who works nearby spoke to CBS12 about what he heard and saw.

"I heard what I believed to fireworks at the time maybe someone was really excited about the fight maybe a dozen or so pops. And then a couple minutes later the police started rolling multiples I put two and two together and realized those were gunshots I heard," said Benjamin Smith who works at a nearby addiction treatment center.

According to Palm Beach Gardens police the shooting is not random.
