A former employee with the Department of Children and Families is facing charges of falsifying records in a child abuse investigation.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested 31-year-old Doreece Hines of Dayton Beach.

Investigators launched the probe back in April after getting tips about Hines possibly falsifying records. She was assigned a case in the Florida Safe Families Network, according to FDLE.

The investigation revealed Hines claimed she made a visit to the home of the child who had bruises on their body to determine whether the youngster was in any danger. The parental visit never happened, according to FDLE. Investigators said Hines put incorrect information into her case notes and tried to change them later.

FDLE also says Hines failed to follow protocol in notifying law enforcement and child protection about the case.

Hines, who was fired in May 2016, is being held at the Volusia County Jail on two counts of falsifying records.
