Motorcyclist killed in Boynton Beach crash

Crash involving motorcycle shuts down Boynton Beach Boulevard (WPEC)

A 37-year-old man was killed in a crash Monday that shut down the westbound lanes of Boynton Beach Boulevard from the 100 to the 300 block, Boynton Beach police said.

Police say Blair Leafley was driving west on Boynton Beach Boulevard around 5 p.m. when he hit the passenger's side of a 2010 Toyota Corolla with his 2014 Honda motorcycle.

Erik Maldonado Lopez, 18, of Boynton Beach, was driving east and didn't see Leafley as he turned left on NW 2nd Street, according to police. After the motorcycle hit Maldonado Lopez's Corolla, Leafley -- who was wearing a helmet -- was ejected from the bike.

He was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he later died, police said. Maldonado Lopez was not injured.

Police believe that a gold or tan 4-door Honda Accord was also involved, but the driver fled the scene. The vehicle may have damage on the front driver's side.

Anyone with information information about that vehicle or who witnessed the crash is urged to call Traffic Homicide Investigator Chris Munro at 561-742-6112.
