PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A crash on the Florida Turnpike killed two men from Port St. Lucie.
The names of the victims have no been released, other than their ages, a 34-year-old man and a 27-year-old man.
The crash happened Thursday morning in the northbound lanes near Indiantown Road in Palm Beach Gardens. The wreck shut down both sides of the highway for hours.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash involved a tractor-trailer driven by a man from Bushnell, Florida; a pickup truck driven by a 65-year-old man from Royal Palm Beach, and a pickup truck with four men from Port St. Lucie.
Investigators said the truck driver lost control of his big rig and crashed into the pickup truck in front of him. The load on the semi, a front-loader tractor, detached and landed in the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike. The driver of the pickup in the southbound lanes crashed into the front-loader tractor, killing the two men.
