Funeral home employee found dead hours after accusation of sexual abuse of a corpse

A Floridafuneral home worker has been founddead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, hours after a co-worker allegedly caught him sexually abusing a corpse.

The unusual turn of events took place Tuesday morning.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office told WEAR a funeral home employee called them to report walking in on the co-worker sexually abusing a corpse.

Deputies got to the Oak Lawn Funeral Home near Pensacola, but the person who was accused had left.

Later in the morning, deputies found the suspect's vehicle at an intersection.

The sheriff's office said the suspect was found dead near the vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The name of that person has not been released.

Neither has information on the victim of the alleged abuse.

An investigation is now underway to uncover exactly what happened.
