Woman dies after car crashes into Intracoastal in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS 12) — A woman is dead after her car crashed into the Intracoastal Waterway in Boynton Beach.

Boynton Beach Police say 36-year-old Lola - Anne Thompson was traveling east on Casa Loma Boulevard Saturday night along the ICW. During a sharp right turn on the road, just west of Two Georges Building, the car went over the curb and plunged into the water.

First responders and a bystander tried to get into the car to pull the woman out, but once it was fully submerged with water and the door was opened, it quickly sank to the bottom of the ICW with the driver, police say.

The woman was pulled from the submerged car and taken to Bethesda Memorial Hospital, where she later died, according to police.
