Bullets tear through family's home in Boynton Beach

Bullet holes and shell casings are scattered across several neighborhoods in Boynton Beach as police investigate several shootings.

One of the shootings happened as a family watched a movie in their living room of their home on SW 1st Street.

Just before 10 p.m., the family told CBS12 they heard pops outside and thought someone was setting off fireworks. The kids nearly ran outside in excitement. They quickly learned the sound came from a gun as bullets started coming through the windows and walls.

A neighbor shared a photo of the scene with CBS12.

Boynton Beach Police say officers found 30 shell casings in the road and driveway and a car riddled with bullet holes.

Just after 9 p.m., police responded to an aggravated assault with a firearm at a home at 522 NW 11th Avenue. A man told police three men in a Hyundai Sonata pulled up and one of them started shooting at him. Police say the man returned fire. The three men in a car took off. Police recovered 18 shell casings at the scene.

Earlier in the day, police responded to a report of shots fired near 2122 NE 3rd Court. An anonymous caller told police they heard about 15 to 20 gunshots in the area. The responding officers didn't find any shooting victims, but crime scene crews recovered 15 shell casings from in front of the home. Police also found 19 shell casings in front of a home at 404 NE 20th Avenue. Two cars had bullet damage.

No word yet from police on whether they believe the incidents are connected. There have been no reports of any injuries or arrests.
