Boynton Beach teen missing for 2 months may be with older man (Hernandez family)

A 15-year-old girl who vanished more than two months ago may be with an older man.

Alexa Westwater's family is sharing the warning signs they wish they hadn’t overlooked as the unknown consumes them.

“I just need here with me," said Colleen Hernandez, her mother. "Let me hear her voice. Please call me. I just need to make sure she’s OK."

She wants her daughter to know she loves her.

Colleen Hernandez, who is two weeks away from giving birth to her third child, said Westwater left their home on Feb. 26. There have been tips from people who said they’ve seen her around West Boca, where she grew up. She was at a Walgreens along 441 and Palmetto Park Road a few days later, but has not been seen or heard from since.

“Based on her social media activity and the rumors and the tips, that she’s with an older man, who may be providing financially for her,” said Heriberto Hernandez, Westwater’s stepfather.

Westwater is described as 5’4” tall and 134 pounds. She has braces, green eyes and blonde hair. The family created a Facebook group called Bring Alexa Home to get the word out, but her whereabouts remains a mystery.

“We should’ve been more proactive in looking at her social media activity, as opposed to being reactive to the situation,” Heriberto Hernandez said.

They said Westwater has been using a friend’s Apple ID, so her parents cannot monitor her text and social media activity.

Now, they fear the worst.

“In South Florida, there’s a lot of sex trafficking," Heriberto said. It’s difficult."

The Hernandez family is warning all parents to monitor their children’s online activity before it’s too late.

“Just don’t doubt that your kid wouldn’t do it," Colleen Hernandez said. "You never know."

Anyone with information is asked to call Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office at 561-688-3000.
