Boynton Beach fire captain hurt in crash in the Florida Keys

BOYNTON BEACH Fla. (CBS12) — A fire captain with Boynton Beach Fire Rescue is in the hospital after a crash in the Florida Keys.

Fire Rescue said the multi-vehicle crash happened Tuesday afternoon in Marathon, injuring Captain Jeff Power and his family.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office confirmed the crash involved three vehicles on U.S.1 near mile marker 70.

Deputies said a pickup truck and a box truck collided head-on. Two people had to be airlifted to the hospital with injuries.

No official word yet on what led up to the crash or the status of Power's condition and that of his family.

The Florida Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.

Boynton Beach Fire Rescue asked for thoughts and prayers as his family recovers.
