A Florida babysitter is accused of putting a young child in a clothes dryer.

Saturday, the Lake County Sheriff's Office arrested 35-year-old Amber Christine Chapman on a charge of aggravated child abuse.

The investigation began in February when deputies responded to the emergency room at UF Health Leesburg Hospital in Lake County for a report of a four-year-old boy with bruises on his face and body. The boy's mother, according to the sheriff's office, took him to the hospital after he started to complain about pain during dinner.

According to the criminal affidavit, the boy said "Miss Amber" put him in the dryer with some towels. Detectives went to the boy's home to take a look at the dryer. In a demonstration with investigators, the boy closed the door to the dryer and said, he "went round and round."

Investigators wrote in their report that the Child Protection Team could not determine if being placed in the dryer caused the injuries, but the severity of the injuries seemed consistent with that action. That led to Chapman being charged, nearly two months later. She initially denied the allegations and refused to cooperate, the sheriff's office said.
