Man from Fort Pierce killed in canal crash in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A man from Fort Pierce is dead following a pickup truck crash into a canal in Port St. Lucie.

Authorities said 46-year-old Jason Self is the only victim of the crash after the dive team searched the canal for more victims and found none.

The scene is along SE Green River Parkway, just south of SE Melaleuca Boulevard.

Police said a person driving by spotted the roof of the truck in the water.

No word on what caused the crash. Police say Self just went off the road and crashed into the canal.
