Boca Raton swim coach loses job amid controversy
BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) —
A well-known swim coach and teacher at a local high school will not return in the fall.
Officials with Boca Raton High School say they are not renewing Eric Hill’s contract, effective Tuesday.
Palm Beach County School District Police would not comment on what exactly the 41-year-old is accused of doing, only confirming that he’s been under investigation since mid April.
That’s when Hill was placed on administrative duty and ordered to have no contact with kids.
According to our news partners at the Sun Sentinel, records show the longtime coach has been investigated several times since he came to the school district 15 years ago.
In November 2017, records show that district police investigated allegations that Hill inappropriately touched a student.
In December 2012, he was accused of being too close with a student while she took selfie photos.
In a third case, district police investigated allegations that Hill had a sexual relationship with a student. That student told investigators it was months after graduation in 2008 when she began a brief relationship with him and it has since ended.
During each investigation, police found no evidence that Hill committed a crime.
As for Hill’s replacement, school officials say they hope to hire a new swim coach by July 1.
