Bicyclist killed in Port St. Lucie crash (PSLPD)

A 45-year-old man was killed riding his bike near SW Rosser Boulevard and SW Open View Drive, Port St. Lucie police said.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 gray Honda, driven by 22-year-old Alec Erichsen of Port St. Lucie, was traveling north on Rosser Boulevard, according to police. As Erichsen was traveling north, he went into the southbound lane and passed the car in front of him. After returning back into the northbound lane, Erichsen hit bicyclist Karriem Davey, of Port St. Lucie, who was also traveling north on Rosser.

The impact ejected Davey from the bicycle and caused him to hit the front windshield of Erichsen's car.

An off-duty St. Lucie County Firefighter, Dominick Mattino, performed CPR on Davey until St. Lucie County Fire Rescue arrived on scene, according to police. Davey was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Port St. Lucie Police Traffic Homicide Investigators are still investigating the crash.
