A 30-year-old man is dead following a murder suicide in Port St. Lucie Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at the intersection of SW Savona Boulevard and SW Fletcher Lane around 1:34 p.m., Port St. Lucie police said.

Police say the victim and his 36-year-old girlfriend were driving when they realized they were being followed while driving south on Savona. They made a left onto Fletcher and pulled into a driveway.

The woman's soon-to-be ex-husband was the one following them and stopped at the end of the driveway, police said. The woman's husband, who was 56 years old, got out of his vehicle, went up to their truck and shot the victim in the head.

However, the truck was still in drive, and when the victim's dead body hit the gas, the truck went into a side yard across the street and almost hit a house, according to police. The woman's husband then confronted her before turning the gun on himself.

The woman was not injured.

The investigation is still ongoing and their names will be released at a later time.
