Elderly man victim of carjacking in Publix parking lot

Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested two carjacking suspects in Vero Beach, Sunday afternoon.

Investigators said a 76-year-old man was waiting for his wife inside his vehicle, parked outside the Publix at Oslo and U.S.1 around 2:00 p.m., when two black males walked up and entered the car.

The suspects then drove him to the Oslo boat ramp and forced him out, but the crooks didn't stop there.

Sheriff’s deputies eventually spotted the stolen car, and arrested the two at King’s Highway and Angle Road in St. Lucie County.

The suspects remain behind bars, while detectives are still investigating.

A spokesman with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said both men were unarmed.

The victim, shaken up, but was not injured.

He was later reunited with his wife.
