A woman and her 11-year-old daughter are dead following a double shooting, police say.

West Palm Beach Police responded to a shooting on 3rd Street near Douglass Avenue around 7:15 Thursday night.

“I heard about three or four shots. I thought it was fireworks, they’ve been shooting off fireworks for the last couple days,” said a neighbor, holding a baby.

According to police, 36-year-old Kaladaa Crowell was found dead inside the home. Her 11-year-old daughter was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she later died.

Investigators are calling this shooting a domestic dispute, but they’re not saying what the gunman and the woman were arguing about.

“It’s very, very tragic that anything like this would actually happen right between Christmas and the New Year right around the holidays,” said Sgt. Dennis Hardiman, West Palm Beach Police.

West Palm Beach Police say they believe they know who did this and they’re looking for one suspect.

They are questioning several witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-8477.
