Fontainebleau Las Vegas sets opening date, now taking hotel bookings

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Fontainebleau Las Vegas announced that it plans to open on Dec. 13, bringing the 16-year-old project one step closer to fruition.

Ahead of opening, the resort is now taking reservations for hotel bookings via its website through next year.

"For almost 70 years, the Fontainebleau brand has challenged boundaries and expectations," CEO Jeffrey Soffer said in a news release. "With Fontainebleau Las Vegas, we have transcended aspiration and set the stage for a new era of luxury hospitality defined by innovation, sophistication, and opulence, with an inextricable link to our roots at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach."

The 67-story resort boasts more than 3,600 rooms and suites, 36 restaurant concepts, a 14,000-square-foot fitness center, a 55,000-square-foot foot spa, and the LIV and LIV Beach experiences.

The restaurant lineup includes concepts from Chef Gabriela Cámara, Michelin-starred chefs Masa Ito and Kevin Kim, Alan Yau, Evan Funke and David Grutman.

Other announced amenities include a boutique retail district, a six-acre pool, 550,000 square feet of meeting space and 150,000 square feet of casino floor. More than 6,500 employees are sought to staff the resort.

Fontainebleau first broke ground on the project back in 2007, but the project was halted at 75% completion because of the Great Recession and an ensuing bankruptcy.

The Witkoff Group purchased the property in 2017 and renamed it The Drew with the goal of completing it in time for a 2022 opening.

Those plans ran aground once the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, and the Witkoff Group sold The Drew back to Fontainebleau Development and Koch Real Estate Investments in 2021.

Fontainebleau reverted the property back to its original name and restarted construction later that year.
